The scottish dances, like the dances of all nations, are ancient in origin, dating back to the 11th and 12th century. These dances, in the beginning, were expressions of both personal and social emotions; joy, victory, or perhaps symbolic of one’s work. Examples of highland dances used in competition are; Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Truibahs, Sailors Hornpipe, The Scottish Lilt, The Irish Jig, and Flora Macdonald’s Fancy.
The “All About Irish” Performance Troupe from the “All About Irish” School of Dance, under the direction of Diana Rodgers, began performing in the spring of 2004. The dancers range in age from 10 to adult and are from Tecumseh, Shawnee and Meeker. The Performance Troupe has performed at various events and festivals throughout Oklahoma, including the Scottish Festival in Tulsa and the Oklahoma Celtic Festival in Stillwater. The Performance Troupe has also participated and served in various community service opportunities.
Members of the Performance Troupe are: Alan, Ariel, Cristin, Daniel, JoAnna, Kadie, Kali, Kendra, Kirstyn, Rebekah, Timothy, and Tyler.
The Kristin Butke School (KBS) was established in December 2002 in Nashville TN. Since then the school has opened up to dancers in Oklahoma. KBS holds 10 regional solo titles, dancers that have placed 2nd-15th at the National level, and World Qualifiers and World Medalists.
The Celtic Tree of Life, which symbolizes roots, growth, and development, represents the school’s beliefs. Dancers need a strong foundation of technique (roots), which in turn enables learning more skills and the understanding of movements (growth), which then allows dancers to create their style and individuality (development).
The school’s goal is to teach Irish dancing and provide cultural education in a positive, healthy, disciplined environment.

Enjoy the irresistible music, colorful costumes, and fast-moving feet of these award-winning step dancers as they showcase both traditional and modern dances of the Emerald Isle. Our talented dancers present a spirited and entertaining Irish dance experience for any audience.
Our dancers have performed with well-known Irish musicians like Seamus Connolly and Liz Carroll and appear frequently with the group, Banish Misfortune, at concerts throughout Oklahoma. Other recent performance venues include the Oklahoma City Twilight Concert Series, Edmond’s UCO Jazz Lab, OKC Opening Night, OKC Festival of the Arts, Stillwater Celtic Festival, Oklahoma Centennial Folklife Festival, and Tulsa Scottish Games.
